Two Artists And A Photographer Survey A Faraway Landscape

Colour And Form Take On A Whole New Meaning In The World Of Space
Honeysuckles Astronomy Tours “by the beach” was delighted to play host to three talented artist friends looking for something new and fascinating to view. All had a great interest in space, but there was only limited past telescope viewing experience between them. The combination of our stargazing viewing option through a large telescope … and the beach and surrounds to paint and photograph, was the perfect drawcard for the trio. An observatory night plus an additional night and day making for a two night stay, was ideal.
Our night for viewing the night sky in all its glory was night one of their stay and conditions were still and clear. The temperature was in the low single digits, so the right clothing was a must (as is always the case). From galaxies to star clusters, to the hottest planet in our Solar System – Venus, the group was enthralled by the sights they enjoyed through the eyepiece.
The following day, the trio of Rob and Mark – both watercolour artists and Lloyd – photographer, ventured across the sand dune behind our cottage for some watercolour painting and photography … followed by a short drive to nearby Seaspray and the Merriman Creek mouth, who’s origin in the Strzelecki Ranges meets Bass Strait in that sleepy coastal town. Very close by and inland from The Honeysuckles, Lake Reeve, also presents wonderful farmland and lake vistas. The group was not lacking in visual stimuli during their stay!
