Joanne And Kai Are Spellbound By The Rings Of Saturn

A Treat For Kai Who Loves The Stars

This was a special occasion for Kai to be able to look up at the stars and see some of the marvels of the universe in real detail. Given the current visibility of members of our Solar System, we commenced with our bright neighbour Venus and ended up with outer-most planet Neptune. It’s a hoot to see Neptune! (for us too!) To be fair, it is very small but it amazing to think we are looking at a planet so far away. On a clear night you can also see the soft blue hue for which Neptune is so well known. Fancy that. (How many people do you know who have spent minutes looking at Neptune in real life???)

Other deep space objects were observed over the course of the evening. For Kai who has a keen interest in the stars, to see a crystal clear Saturn and its rings and the huge Tarantula Nebula, along with stunning 47 Tucanae – one of the great objects to view from planet Earth, it was all a great thrill.

Knowing Kai’s fascination for the sky Joanne was very keen to enjoy a dark sky experience with Honeysuckles Astronomy Tours. We were delighted they came for us to enjoy it with them.
