What’s Better Than An Astronomy Tour? Two Astronomy Tours!

Back again for another multi-night stay with an astronomy tour, Carli and Rhyl brought with them two enthusiastic friends – Elijah and Julia, keen to share the experience. Once again clear skies prevailed; this time with temperatures down in the low single digits. But prewarned means being prepared and all had warm clothing to ward off the night chill. (… in addition to which the cottage was cozy and warm at the end of the outside tour adventure!)

Viewing commenced with bright Venus perched above a thin Crescent Moon low in the west. A look at the Moon before it was too low was also managed. Normally, the Moon is not present for our astronomy tours due to its light, but there is no harm done when it is only a few days into its phase gathering brightness. We then proceeded to the winter special objects which included the fabulous southern pair of great globular clusters Omega Centauri and 47 Tucanae, then onto nebulae, galaxies and diverse stars. The group enjoyed their tour sipping a red or two while on their astral journey.

The next morning, the beach and surrounds needed exploring and still, sunny conditions made for a terrific weekend overall for the group. We are thinking perhaps a third visit may come up some time in the future for the intrepid pair??? … with another group of friends???
