Clear Skies Make For An Excellent Tour

Gayle and Peter are busy enjoying a variety of experiences now that both have retired from full-time work – Gayle teaching and Peter a kidney specialist; and a telescope sky tour was one adventure they were looking forward to ticking off their bucket list. From Melbourne, Gayle had booked an Overnight Stay Tour which enabled them to arrive mid-afternoon and enjoy the beach and surrounds on arrival day, with a provided breakfast and delightful sun-drenched morning beach walk before breakfast, the following day.

Tour night was ideal … clear skies, still and a mild winter temperature provided for comfort and excellent views. Not new to looking through a telescope – with Peter, additionally through his work spending time looking through a microscope, the pair were in somewhat familiar ground looking through the eyepiece of the telescope. Nebulae, star forming regions and brilliant star clusters of differing configurations were much enjoyed. A three-day-old crescent Moon was also viewed before it set, providing an added Solar System bonus! …. An Australian star adventure receives a big tick off the bucket list!

We had a lovely time, I don’t think that we’ll look at the night sky in the same way again! The Moon has so many craters! Telescope was fun; commentary very informative and interesting. We stayed overnight and enjoyed a delicious omelet for breakfast made by the host, Bruce.”        Gayle and Peter
