A clear and still night made it ideal for their children Huda and Zoya to gaze alongside them through the telescope at some fabulous deep space objects. Most adults are completely new to observing through a large telescope and the variety of shapes and sizes of diverse nebulae and star clusters, not to mention galaxies. … Imagine the awe with which a young child would gaze upon these things!

The parents were thrilled and we were pleased to observe the response of both the children and the parents. And we made sure to bring our explanation of the objects themselves and the use of focusing in order to see them as well as possible, down to a child’s level of understanding. It all worked very well and the children lasted ’til the end of the tour which showed how interested they were. It was a terrific night for all.
