Gippsland Family Enjoy A Night Under The Stars

A Drive From Rosedale Can Take You 65 Million Light Years Away!

When Darren, Jacky, Caydn and Joshua left their Gippsland home town of Rosedale to journey to The Honeysuckles, they had no idea how far they would end up away from home … Of course, the majority of the journey was done via looking through the eyepiece of our powerful telescope … to observe something who’s light had left the object itself way back when the dinosaurs were still roaming planet Earth. That is … 65 million years ago! Considering light travels at 300,000 kilometres per second, it’s a very, very long distance away.

But that’s how it is when you look through a telescope into the depths of our marvelous night sky. We really have absolutely no sense of how far away everything really is. It’s all sitting there waiting to be admired … and bowled over by! 🙂

Our intrepid sky explorers enjoyed objects from as near as “twelve light minutes” away (Venus), to NGC 1365, the great southern giant barred spiral galaxy, a whopping 200,000 light years in diameter. It’s hard not to be blown away enjoying a leisurely view of these objects. Our tours are very special by offering our individual bookings for small private groups, because our guests have all the time they want to spend enjoying these sights with their family, or friends.

“Cheers Bruce. It’s crazy to be able to view cosmic objects like that from someone’s backyard! Thanks for taking us on an amazing journey”   Jacky
